Research
My research centres on medical applications of machine learning and AI. I have built computational fluid-dynamics simulations of blood flow and plaque dynamics in three-dimensional coronary-artery models reconstructed from medical imaging, using AI segmentation to create the simulation geometries.
Beyond medicine, I am interested in how AI is changing academic research and, more broadly, society, politics, and the economy. Sabbatical work in the public sector examined open-data policy across industries; volunteer work with a community activism group addressed hate crime during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, including the effects of media bias on human and algorithmic perception.
I completed a PhD in Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering at University College London, advised by Professor Ryo Torii and Dr Leon Menezes. The work investigated ways to improve imaging-based diagnosis of coronary artery disease, particularly CT-derived fractional flow reserve.
I also care about carrying research into practice. My experience includes the health-technology startup ecosystem and a Y Combinator-backed company. I currently conduct independent research, contribute to MedARC as an open-science researcher, and am developing a stealth project involving AI in academic research and education.
